Osmo hardwax oils offer a top quality treatment for wooden flooring, other internal and external woodwork. These are natural wood finishes with all the goodness of nature, made from natural oils and waxes, canauba wax, sunflower oil, candilla wax, thistle oil and more.
Osmo hardwax oils provide natural character, durability and protection for all interior and exterior timber. Wooden floors are often exposed to great stresses and strains, therefore they require extra protection and Osmo hardwax oils offer a very durable finish. This protection should not disturb or change the natural appearance of the wood‘s surface.
The range of Osmo hardwax oils provide this protection from within the wood itself, bringing the natural grain and character of the wood to life whilst offering maximum protection and allowing it to “breathe”. This helps to maintain its elastic surface qualities and allows it to compliment its environment. With Osmo natural wood finishes the wood surface retains its natural character and charm but also becomes abrasion, water and dirt resistant – a long lasting surface protection against those small daily mishaps.
Polyx®-Oil High Solid Tints
Osmo Polyx®-Oil Tints are resistant to water and dirt, very durable and smoothen wood surfaces. In comparison to conventional finishes, the natural vegetable oils and waxes allow for an even colouring and a harmonic, smooth surface result. Easy application – no need for a primer or sanding between coats – saves time and money. It meets the wood's natural demands: It is microporous and does not crack, flake, peel or blister.
Resistant against wine, beer, cola, coffee, tea, fruit juice, milk and water in accordance with DIN 68861-1A (German industrial norm).
When dry, the finish is safe for humans, animals and plants (suitable for children's toys as per. EN 71.3 (European norm) and fast to perspiration and saliva in accordance with DIN 53160(German industrial norm)).

0.75L & 2.5L or
750ml, & 2.5 Litres
1 L = approx. 30 m2
Shelf life is 5 years or more if can is tightly closed. Store in a dry place. If thickened by frost it will regain a normal consistency under normal temperatures within 24-36 hours.
Wood surface must be clean and dry (moisture content max. 20%). Polyx®-Oil Tints are ready to use, please do no thin, stir well before use. Clean or slightly sand old microporous finishes, remove old varnish (Osmo Paint Remover or by sanding). Small cracks, larger dents and small holes in the wood can be filled with Osmo Woodfiller. Sand carefully before application starting with a coarse paper – final sanding for flooring P120-150, furniture P220-240. Remove dust etc thoroughly from the surface before application (vacuum cleaner).
♣Transparent tint: Apply thinly and evenly along the wood grain with either an Osmo Floor Brush or the Osmo Microfibre Roller and spread well. Allow for good ventilation whilst drying.
If a more intense colour tone is required a second coat can be applied (maximum two coats).
♣Light leached effect: Wipe off after approx. 20 minutes using either a lint free cloth or white pad, going along the grain. Allow for good ventilation whilst drying.
♣Intensive colour tone: For this we recommend using Osmo Wood Wax Finish.
Important for floorings: A maximum of 1 coat of Polyx®-Oil Tints may be applied to a floor.
After thorough drying a top coat of Osmo Polyx®-Oil clear must be applied.
The final surface quality is dependent on the wood’s surface structure. We therefore always recommend to test the product on a small sample area before complete application.
Cleaning of tools:
Clean working utensils with Osmo Brush Cleaner (benzene-free).
approx. 24 hours (normal climatic conditions, 23°C/50%, rel. humidity). Lower temperatures and/or high humidity can increase the drying time.
Note: We recommend using a colour tone which either matches that of the wood or darker, in any case a trial application is most definitely recommended. Natural oils accentuate the natural colour tone and grain of wood (permanent wet look). For dark hardwoods such as Wenge, Merbau, Jatoba etc. We recommend using Osmo Wood Wax Finish Clear Extra Thin.
Trial application is most definitely recommended.
Caution: For cupboards, wardrobes and drawers, only 1 thin coat should be applied with a cloth.
